The number most people get wrong is the total, because monday.com states “Plans start from 3 users.” That makes $36 a month the real floor: $12 times 3 seats, whatever the size of your team. A free tier exists but is capped at two seats, and automations, integrations and the timeline view all start at Standard rather than Basic.

That breakdown is worth reading: the displayed total is not simply the seat rate times the seats. On Standard at ten seats the page's own tooltip reads $12 x 10 seats = $120, then adds 2,000 credits = $20, then subtracts Special monthly discount = -$20 to arrive back at $120. The AI-credit line carries a real stated price that a current discount is presently offsetting in full.

monday.com advertises one number for the yearly discount: “Yes, by choosing a yearly plan, you will receive an 18% discount.” On its own two published figures the saving is not one number but three, 25% on Basic, 14% on Standard and 21% on Pro. Neither the claim nor the arithmetic is wrong; they are just answering slightly different questions, and the tier you pick decides which one applies to you.
The three-seat floor, and what it costs a smaller team
monday.com's own FAQ states “Plans start from 3 users.” A team of 2, then, does not pay for 2 seats. It pays $36 a month month-to-month, or $27 on annual billing, for 3. Of the 8 tools in this index, monday.com is the only one whose own rules do that at this team size.

The floor stops mattering above three people. At a team of 5, monday.com bills 5 seats like everyone else, and the comparison becomes an ordinary one about the seat rate.

The other thing monday.com stops publishing is the top end. Above forty users its FAQ says “If you want to sign up more than 40 users, you can request a quote to get an exact price.” So the published rate is the price for a band, not for any team.
What the total on the card is actually made of
Hover the total on any paid card and monday.com shows its own arithmetic, which is not simply the seat rate times the seats. At its default team size of 10 seats the Standard breakdown reads “$12 x 10 seats = $120 · 2,000 credits = $20 · Special monthly discount = -$20 · Total = $120” In other words the AI-credit allowance carries a stated monthly price, and a current promotion is cancelling it exactly. On Standard at ten seats the page's own breakdown reads 2,000 credits = $20 then Special monthly discount = -$20. The credit line has a price; a current promotion is cancelling it. Two honest limits on that. We read the per-seat figures at monday.com's default team size of 10 seats; its page lets you change that number, and we did not verify whether the per-seat rate moves with it, so we do not claim either way. And we do not know how long the credit discount lasts, because monday.com does not say.

There is a free tier, and monday.com describes it as "monday.com has a free plan of monday work management which is ideal for freelancers and individual professionals." Its card caps it at two seats, three boards and three docs, and states that AI features are available from Basic. There is also a 14-day trial: "we offer a 14-day free trial of the Pro plan for monday work management, monday CRM and monday dev."
Which monday.com plan has automations and Gantt?
Standard. Its card lists "Automations (250 actions / month)" and "Timeline & Gantt views", so both arrive together at $14 per seat month-to-month rather than at the Basic price. Pro raises the same automation and integration allowance to 25,000 actions a month.
