Is Deel Worth It?

Updated August 6, 2026· every figure checked against the vendor’s own pricing page

It comes down to one thing you can check before paying: whether you need a figure you can rely on or the lowest number on a page. Deel publishes $599 per EOR employee per month and $49 per contractor per month, and neither carries a starting-at qualifier — only 4 of the 7 providers here can say that of their EOR figure. On the mix this index prices, 3 employees and 1 contractor, Deel comes to $1,846 a month against Papaya Global's floor of $1,502, which puts it 3rd of the 5 providers whose figures can be totalled at all. This is a platform fee. It excludes salary, statutory employer contributions, mandatory benefits, severance accruals, deposits, implementation fees and every country-specific government cost, all of which dominate the real bill and none of which any provider in this index publishes a total for. We have not used Deel and make no claim about how well it works.

Every figure on this page is a platform fee. It is what the provider charges to employ or engage someone on your behalf, and it excludes salary, statutory employer contributions, mandatory benefits, severance accruals, deposits, implementation fees and every country-specific government cost. Those dominate the real bill, they vary enormously by country, and no provider in this index publishes a total that includes them — several say so on their own pages. Nothing here is the cost of hiring anyone.

RangeYourself has no affiliate relationship with any provider on this page as of August 6, 2026: every link here goes straight to the provider’s own site and earns us nothing. We may pursue one in this category, and if we do we will say so here. Either way the ordering follows published figures, and a provider that pays nothing is listed on exactly the same basis as one that does. See how we make money and our editorial standards.

What the fee buys, in Deel’s own words

Every line below is quoted from Deel's pricing page, read on 2026-08-06. It is what you are buying, stated by the seller; it is not a judgement about whether the thing described is any good.

Contractor of Record$325per contractor of record per month“$325 per contractor of record per month”
US PEO$125per US PEO employee per month“$125 per US PEO employee per month”

The useful comparison inside Deel's own range is between managing contractors yourself at $49 a month and having Deel act as Contractor of Record at $325. The gap of $276 a contractor a month is what Deel charges to take on the classification risk itself rather than leave it with you. Whether that is worth paying depends on a legal exposure we cannot size for you.

What it costs against the alternatives, on the same mix of workers

Price is one axis and the cheapest provider is not automatically the right one. But it is the axis that can be checked, so here it is: for 3 employees and 1 contractor, Deel is 3 of 5 at $1,846 a month in platform fees, against Papaya Global at a floor of $1,502. The gap is $344 a month, or $4,128 a year — but Papaya Global's figure is a floor its own page marks as a starting price, so the real gap is smaller than that and may be nothing at all.

The money that is not the fee

Deel's pricing page says nothing either way about deposits or setup fees, and it is not alone: 5 of the 8 providers here leave the question unaddressed. Oyster states that it requires one. Remote and Papaya Global state on their own pages that none is required. Silence is not a promise in either direction, and this page does not read it as one.

  • Remote, deposits: Remote states no upfront deposits are required, and separately that it collects reserve payments in rare, high-risk circumstances as financial security. Both statements are its own, and they are not in conflict: one is about the standard arrangement, the other about an exception. “We collect reserve payments in rare, high risk circumstances. This is a form of financial security that enables us to pay employees even if the customer is unable to pay us.”
  • Remote, setup and onboarding: Remote states there are no platform, onboarding or setup fees on its HR management, EOR and Contractor Management products. “There are no platform, onboarding, or setup fees for our HR management, EOR, and Contractor Management products.”
  • Oyster, deposits: Oyster states it requires a refundable deposit to start an EOR engagement, and does not publish the amount. It states in the same answer that setup, onboarding, HR advice and terminations carry no extra charge. “Oyster requires a refundable deposit for EOR Team Members to initiate the engagement and to ensure on-time payments to your team.”
  • Oyster, setup and onboarding: Oyster states that setup, onboarding, HR expert access and termination processing are included in the subscription fee rather than charged separately. “Oyster does not add extra charges for essentials like setup and onboarding, talking to HR experts, or processing terminations”
  • Multiplier, setup and onboarding: Multiplier prints two additional line items directly beneath every published price: compliance-mandated add-ons, and an implementation fee where applicable. Neither is quantified anywhere on the page. “+ Implementation fee as applicable”
  • Papaya Global, deposits: Papaya lists 'No deposit required' as a feature of its Contractor of Record plan. The statement is scoped to that plan's feature list and its pricing page says nothing either way about a deposit on the EOR product. “No deposit required”

What we cannot tell you

  • Whether Deel is pleasant to use, quick to onboard through, or accurate on payroll. We have not used it, and no pricing page can answer that.
  • What employing someone through Deel actually costs. The platform fee is the only component published; salary and statutory employer costs are the larger part and vary by country.
  • Whether the published figure is what you would be quoted. Deel publishes it without a starting-at qualifier, which is a stronger statement than several competitors make, but a pricing page is not a contract.
  • Whether Deel discounts for volume or for a longer term. Its pricing page carries no billing-term choice and says nothing about volume pricing.
  • Whether it is worth it for you. That depends on how many people you are hiring and where, and the figures above let you do the arithmetic yourself.

This page compares what each provider publishes about price and terms. It makes no claim about which platform is better to work with, faster to onboard through, or more reliable on payroll, because those are not things a pricing page can establish and we have not used any of them.

Worth saying plainly, because it shapes what you are reading: RangeYourself currently has no affiliate relationship with any provider on this page, and every provider link here goes straight to that provider’s own site. If that changes, this line changes with it. Nothing here is written to push you towards a demo, no provider pays for placement, and the ranked tables sort on published figures rather than on anything we are paid.

Frequently asked questions

Is Deel expensive compared with other EOR providers?

On platform fees for 3 employees and 1 contractor it sits 3 of 5 at $1,846 a month, with Papaya Global lowest at $1,502 and Remote highest at $2,126. Verified August 6, 2026. Those are platform fees only, and some of the lower figures are starting prices rather than prices.

Does the Deel fee include payroll taxes and benefits?

No. It is a platform fee: what Deel charges to be the legal employer. Salary, statutory employer contributions, mandatory benefits and severance accruals sit outside it and vary by country. No provider in this index publishes a figure that includes them, and two of them say so directly on their own pages.

Is Deel worth it for one employee?

At one employee the platform fee is $599 a month, or $7,188 a year, and Deel states no minimum headcount on its pricing page. Whether that beats setting up your own entity is a question about the country, not about Deel; one competitor in this index publishes its own estimate of what entity setup costs, and it is that competitor's claim rather than a verified figure.

Does Deel have hidden fees?

Its pricing page publishes four figures and does not address deposits, implementation fees or setup fees either way. That is not the same as stating there are none — two other providers in this index do state that explicitly, and one states the opposite about itself. We report what each page says and do not infer from silence.

Is Deel cheaper than doing it yourself?

We cannot tell you, and we would be suspicious of anyone who could without knowing your country. The comparison depends on entity setup and annual maintenance costs that differ by jurisdiction. One provider in this index publishes a figure for that alternative on its own page; it is that provider's marketing claim about the option it is competing with, not an independently verified number, and it is not used in any calculation here.

How we verify this

Every figure on this page was read from the provider’s own page and is stored with that page’s URL, a verbatim quote, and the date it was checked (most recent: August 6, 2026). 1 of these 8 pages could not be read with a plain HTTP request and was read in a browser at the same URL, with each billing option selected in turn. Where a provider publishes no number we say so instead of repeating a figure from elsewhere, and the one provider here that publishes none has no figure attributed to it anywhere on this site. A figure the provider itself prefixes with “from” or “starts at” is printed as a floor, because that is the provider’s own distinction and not ours; a total built from a floor is labelled a floor too. Totals are arithmetic on published figures only. See our editorial standards and how we verify.
